Jim passed peacefully in his sleep November 10,2021.
He was born on February 13,1926 in Toledo,Ohio to Clarence and Leona (Klute) Keil. On June 2, 1951 he married Jane C. Gerhart.
He graduated from De Vilbiss High school so he could join the navy to serve in World War 2. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and started his college studies. He graduated in 1950. He was called back into service for the Korean conflict in 1950 and separated in 1963 from the reserves as a lieutenant.
He was an accountant and worked for various companies and when he retired it was from Municipal Finance which he owned.
Jim was raised a Master Mason January 23,1976. He was bestowed the honor of 33rd degree Mason. He was active in the Scottish and York rite. He went into the Orak shrine in 1977. Then joined Araba Shrine after moving to Florida and was active until 2018.
He joined the United States Power Squadron in Cape Coral . He was a past commander of Cape Coral 1997-1998 and past district commander 2002-2003.
His happiest times were when he was surrounded by his family. He was proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane, granddaughter Carrie and brothers John (Jack) and Jerry. Also brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew Ralph, Joanne and Robert Gerhart. He is survived by his daughters Carol Libby(Brian) and Kathy Keil. Grandsons Chris (Jen) Libby and Ryan(Desiree) Libby. Great grandchildren Kate,Jack,Olivia,and Ronin Libby and Grayson Keil. Sisters-in-law Mary Keil , Sharon Keil and Rose LaPointe. Also many nieces and nephews along with their children.
Graveside services with military honors will be held December 6th 2021 at 1:30pm at the National Cemetery in Sarasota Fl. Memorial service will be held December 5th 2021 at 5:00pm at Fort Myers Beach Masonic Lodge 17671 Pine Ridge Road. Please wear masks to both services.
