Passing of Illustrious Charles C. Wicks, 33°, Active for Indiana

 

Charles "Chuck" C. Wicks, 75, Elkhart, died at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1945 in Goshen, to Charles S. and Christine (Carter) Wicks.
On October 31, 1970, he married Penny (Krull) Wicks.
Surviving are his wife, Penny, Elkhart; daughter, Kristin Wicks, Chicago, Illinois, sons, Jay C. (Susan) Wicks, Elkhart; Scott R. Wicks, Elkhart; 3 grandchildren, Aleesa (Stephano) Euells, Gavin Cass, David Reed; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Jeremiah; sister, Carolyn Albins, New Orleans, Louisiana; niece, Hillary Albins and nephew, Nathanael Albins.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
Charles was a 1963 graduate of St. Martins High School, New Orleans, Louisiana, Tulane University and graduated from Indiana University Law School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970-1974 and received an Air Force Accommodations Medal. Charles was an attorney in Elkhart, former part-time Deputy Prosecutor and retired as Judge of Superior Court 5, Elkhart. He was a member of the Elkhart City Bar Association and Goshen City Bar Association.
Active in the community, Charles was a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of both the Goshen and Elkhart Shriners, Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was former Chairman of the Republican Party, member of Kiwanis and started Elkhart Pachyderm.
A member of St. James Episcopal Church, he loved his church. Charles was an avid golfer and movie buff. He enjoyed boating and traveling with his family.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. A Masonic Service will be held from 6-6:30 p.m. on Thursday. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the 1 p.m. funeral service on Friday, May 21, 2021, at St. James Episcopal Church, 105 S. 6th St., Goshen. Father Larry Biller will officiate.
Burial will follow at Violett Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be directed to the St. James Episcopal Church.
