We are currently in an exciting phase of growth here at the Valley of South Bend as we officially form our Theatrical Guild. This Guild is being established as the dedicated corps of performers and ritualists whose sole focus is the dramatic heart of our Valley.
We are building this Guild from the ground up to ensure that our degrees are delivered with the power, clarity, and dignity they deserve.
Our Mission in Forming the Guild
Our goal is to move beyond simply reciting lines. We are creating a community of Brothers dedicated to the art of fraternal storytelling. As we form, our primary objectives include:
- Building our Acting Roster: We are seeking Brothers from all backgrounds to join the foundation of this group. Whether you have professional stage experience or have never stepped in front of an audience, there is a role for you. We are looking to fill everything from major speaking parts to vital non-speaking roles that provide the "presence" our ceremonies require.
- Establishing "Table Read" Sessions: We are focusing on gathered sessions where we read through the 4th through 32nd Degrees together. This allows us to explore the philosophy and character motivations behind the ritual in a relaxed, collaborative setting before ever stepping under the lights.
- Performance Coaching and Development: One of our founding goals is to provide mentorship for Brothers looking to improve their public speaking and stage presence. We want to help you develop the vocal projection and confidence needed to master our historic auditorium.
- Creating a Collaborative Casting Process: We are working to establish a system that finds the right "fit" for every Brother. Our goal is to ensure you are placed in a role that challenges you and feels rewarding, helping you grow as both a Mason and a performer.
- Ensuring Ritual Integrity: As a forming Guild, we are setting the standard now for the future of our Valley’s work. We are dedicated to the precision of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction’s ritual, ensuring that every lesson is delivered with genuine emotion and impact.
Shape the Future of the Valley
Because we are in the formative stages, those who join the Theatrical Guild now will have the unique opportunity to define the "South Bend style" of performance for years to come. We aren't just putting on a production; we are providing the moral and philosophical education that is the hallmark of the Scottish Rite.
If you are ready to step into the shoes of the historical and symbolic figures of our degrees, we invite you to take your place on the floor. There is no better way to truly internalize the lessons of the Rite than by personifying them for your Brothers.
